Our Funding
Lucky’s Place Funding Commitment
As Lucky’s Place continues its funding commitment as a no-kill shelter, we work with a wide network of animal welfare organizations to promote that concept. Every year, 6 to 8 million pets end up in shelters, and from that number, millions are euthanized. Adopting even one animal from a shelter can make an impact and reduce these horrific statistics. We ask our members and friends to talk with their neighbors and families about the many benefits of adopting companion animals.
Lucky’s Place invests a minimum of $150 in each animal for its health and well-being: spay/neuter, requisite vaccinations, and thorough vet examinations. Many animals arrive with emergency injuries or other needs and are only made available for adoption once these needs have been taken care of. Adoption donations do not cover shelter costs, but our faithful AHASV supporters contribute the balance to promote our common goal: to place each animal in a caring, loving and safe home. Always remember, when you adopt an animal from a shelter you save two lives – the one you take home and the one you make room for.
Saving lives requires two essential ingredients: a relentless work ethic and money. As a non-profit organization AHASV relies on the financial support from generous individuals, businesses grants, and foundations. Without continued donations and grants, we could not keep our doors open for animals in need.
Fundraisers
Fundraisers are also an important part of covering our costs.

A special thanks to Broulim’s Alpine Market for all the donations they collect for Lucky’s Place.
Our Volunteers
Equally important are our volunteers. The valuable amount of time each volunteer spends working in our office, walking animals, providing medical care, coordinating adoptions and events, cleaning our facilities, and transporting shelter pets, adds up to a lot of hours and a lot of money.
Gift Giving
If you are trying to figure out what special gift to give for the holidays, consider a gift membership or donation to Lucky’s in honor of your friend or loved one. Monetary gifts and gifts of time commitment are always welcomed.
