Rugged

Rugged

Rugged is a very sweet dog he loves to be with us and play fetch. Over the short amount of time he has been with us after adoption, his personality is really starting to come through. He loves to watch and observe what we are making in the kitchen, he loves to give kisses, and he loves to be close with us. If we are in separate rooms he will go back and forth from each room until one of us joins the other and he will lay close to both of us. He will comfort you when you’re sad and lick your tears away. He loves to play fetch and play with other dogs and is such a good listener! He loves to make us proud and he is our special boy. We love him so much and we are so happy to have him in our lives.

Zoie

Zoie

Just wanted to send you a picture of one of Zoie’s latest adventures.
Zoie was such a good girl and seemed to really enjoy herself.

Any time I go to leave, Zoie is waiting for me at the door.
She loves to go for rides.

My grandchildren love Zoie and she is so good with them! As you can see she is a very loved,
and maybe a little spoiled, little dog!

Stormy

Stormy

Just wanted to tell you how much we love Stormy. She has transformed our life. As this past year has been full of challenges, Stormy came into our life and brought so much joy and peace.

She loves to hike and go on adventures. She loves to help with homework. She walks each day to the bus to see the girls off and always gets the first hugs when the girls get home.

We feel so lucky to have her!!

KayCee

KayCee

KayCee was left at the post office in Thayne where she waited for her owner for days. One of the ladies at the post office called the shelter and took her home until we could get her. KayCee is an older super sweet black lab. She was at the shelter for a month and got adopted. But KayCee had seizures which we were not aware of and was brought back to the shelter. After two more months at the shelter, she found her forever home.

KayCee now lives in Jackson with a wonderful, compassionate lady. She still has seizures but her new owner is dealing with them and giving her more love each day than you can imagine. We are so grateful for Penny, KayCee’s new mom.

Max

Max

Meet Max! He’s the cute little grey fella in the mix. Max came to the shelter for aggressive behaviors to his fur siblings, and while he was at the shelter he really didn’t behave much better with his kennel mates. Our family heard his family tell their heartbreaking story and knew we had a home that might help him work on his protective behaviors.  We took Max home to foster, and within days he was part of our pack. Our two senior dogs were great role models. They towered him in size and patience and taught him how to find his place comfortably. Like a lot of misunderstood dogs, Max isn’t aggressive, he’s insecure. We chose quickly to fail as his foster parents and give Max his forever home with us!

Our senior pups peacefully passed away this last Spring, but not before smoothing out and relax all of his rough exterior edges, loving him like a little brother, and helping us give him the best chance to be such a good, good boy. He’s my right-hand hiking buddy now, smart, incredibly comical, and sweet. The best part though….here he with his first fur family, the brother he was unable to get along with is snuggled up on me and leaning in for a big ole dog kiss! They’re back together again going out on adventures and the BEST of friends! In this adoption story, everyone’s heart is happier! It’s amazing what change second chances can bring.

Sharing all the loves,
Max, Cody, & Bailey …. In loving memory of Lola & Brick

Willow

Willow

Hello dear Mary Ann!

It feels like an age since I touched base with you! I meant to on the day I received the Lucky’s Place’s newsletter (thank you so much for sending it to me and keeping us connected) and, of course, got home to laundry and a muddy dog that needed a bath and forgot. Willow is thriving here. I cannot even recognize the frightened little girl that came to us from you almost 2 years ago.

She is still loving her zoomies times with the neighbourhood dogs and she has just realized that if she picks up a ball that another dog wants and runs with it, they will chase her! Oh my goodness, it is hysterical.  I put a woolen ball into an old tube sock of Jamie’s and knotted it so that it can be a gentle tug/toss toy for her and she tosses her head around and whips it down the hallway, then chases it, tail wagging and so, so proud of her sass. It is now “Lolo’s” teasing toy for her time with her “Bearbear” friend. She just runs, he chases and pretends to try to take it. Warms my heart and makes me grin every time. She has truly blossomed.  There is further to go with confidence when she is startled by noises or strangers, but she makes progress constantly.

And now, she is recognizing words, people’s names, she knows when we are turning up the road to my parents’ home for a grandpuppy visit. She has discovered that she has a tribe and she is loving it all. We are all healthy, hunkered down with CoVid, but so happy to hunker with the wee fuzzy girl.

Thank you again, so so much, for blessing our family with her heart…..
Stay well and safe, my dear, and blessings cover you,
Lisa

Drambuie

Drambuie “Buie”

We have been so blessed to have Drambuie aka “Buie” join our family. His sweet and playful personality lifts our spirits and makes our days so bright.

When we saw Buie’s sweet face and read a little bit about him on a posting by Lucky’s Place we couldn’t wait to meet him. It was a perfect match from the moment we met.

Buie now spends his days going on walks/hikes, catching tennis balls, playing in the snow, and he is a professional greeter at an art studio. In the evening he loves to cuddle and give kisses.

Huge thanks to Mary Ann and the rest of the staff at Lucky’s Place in Thayne, WY for providing love and shelter to our sweet Buie before we were able to bring him home to become part of our family.

Greta

Greta

We just wanted to share a couple of recent photos of our sweet girl Greta (formerly known as Bizee).

We have had her for a year now and are totally in love – not that it took long for her to completely steal our hearts though! She loves playing in the snow and snuggling (thinks she’s a lap dog). She is so sweet and lovable, and we are so thankful to have her in our lives.

Odie

Odie

Odie is such a wonderful dog. He is my co-pilot. We go everywhere together. I can’t imagine our family without him.  Thank you again for caring for him for so long until fate could bring us together!

Missy

Missy

Last September we were coming home from our cabin in Alpine when I stopped at Lucky’s Place to see if they had any dogs that would be a good addition to our family. Mary Ann showed me a dog, but I wanted something different. She told me to put my name down on a list and let her know what kind of dog I wanted. I added my name and wrote down Border Collie. By the end of October, I was considering calling a friend who breeds miniature Labradoodles and getting one for my husband for Christmas.

It was a Saturday when I received a phone call from Mary Ann at Lucky’s Place saying she thought she had the dog for me. She sent me a picture of her, and I instantly fell in love. I told her I would take her.  I spoke to Missy’s foster mom, Lisa, who volunteers for the shelter. She told me “Missy Moo” was a very sweet dog, but she also let me know that Missy was extremely timid and shy. She said we would have to work with Missy, but that she could be a great dog if given the chance. Lisa would continue to foster Missy for another two weeks to get her spayed. Around the middle of November, she would be coming to live with us.

On the day they were to arrive, I was so excited! My husband also came home from work to meet them. They arrived at my home where we immediately took Missy on a walk with my Kelpie, Gracie May, who was also rescued from Lucky’s Place four years ago in April. We let them go out and play in our backyard. There were some things that Missy had to get used to… such as a dog door and two other dogs. (In addition to Gracie May, we have an older Border Collie named Wookie). After a heartfelt goodbye to Lisa and Mary Ann, I felt I had made new friends, and we received another fabulous dog from Lucky’s Place.

We had to start working on the basics with Missy. I taught her how to sit, and we had to work on her name recognition. Now we are doing even more training and working on some food aggression issues. She is still shy, but she is the best dog ever. She and Gracie May are a little “snarky” with each other, but we have learned how to work through it. This has been a very wonderful experience, and we have just fallen in love with Missy. She has the best godmother ever in Lisa, and I have made a friend for life.
