Sherlock

Sherlock

We are sorry to report that our sweet Sherlock passed away today from renal failure. He was about two years old when we adopted him in 2011, so we estimate he was about 15 years old. I’ll always remember the day I was working at your shelter on a Saturday and a nice lady from Etna brought him in because she was moving and could not take him with her. There was no available space for Sherlock at the shelter that day, so I asked her to fill out the paperwork and that we’d let her know when we had room for him. I secretly took her phone number home with me and after Jake returned home from a business trip, we called her and arranged to meet “Toughy” as she called him. We changed his name to Sherlock soon after we took him home. When I saw that sweet face through the door on the cat carrier, I just knew he was the right replacement for our Linus who had passed earlier that year (2011). We lost our precious Benny earlier this year, but we still have our three-legged sweet Nicky who talks constantly – a great comfort to us. We rescued Nicky from Bridger Animal Hospital after he was mauled by a dog on Christmas Day in 2013. Dr. Black was the on-call physician that day who saved Nicky’s life. Sherlock was being boarded there while we were in Florida for the holidays, so he took Nicky under his wing and looked over him while he was recovering from leg amputation. They bonded very quickly and became best friends. We’ve been so fortunate to have had the most loving and sweet pets that we’ll cherish forever.

Thank you for all you do to save and care for all those beautiful creatures.      L&J
